Stirrett Johnsen, Inc. is a traditional mechanical contractor founded in 1972 by Lee Stirrett and Brian Johnsen. The company began in the plan/spec market competing statewide for Washington State K-12 education facilities and Military/Industrial work at the local shipyard in Bremerton. Based in Silverdale, Washington, the firm quickly developed a reputation as an efficient and quality-driven provider which soon led the founders to look at expanded markets and services.

In 1983, the company entered the design/build market adding in-house mechanical engineering, design and coordination capabilities. One of the first landmark projects in the design/build market was Bellevue Place in 1988. This 1,400,000 square-foot project was successfully designed and managed by SJI Mechanical Engineers Greg Swanson, P.E. and Rich Arper, P.E. with field supervision by Elgin Springgay, Larry Adams, Bruce Pearson, and Steve Sullivan.

Today, with 120 employees and an average revenue of over $30 million annually, Stirrett Johnsen is well known as a leading mechanical contractor in the region.
